Nest welcomes back Raffa Vergata for another fantastic pottery workshop!
Join Local artist, Raffaela Vergata ceramic artist and founder of Sunken Orchard Ceramics in learning the Hand Building Techniques she uses to create your own functional, beautiful mug OR another smaller style pieces.
This class is perfect for first-time potters. You will learn the basics of the "handbuilding" technique & how to work with a flat piece of clay. We will also explore texture as it pertains to form and function.
There will be a step-by-step demonstration by Raffaela on mug construction with tips and inspiration for decoration, followed by the opportunity to create two of your own, one-of-a-kind ceramics.
The all-inclusive ticket price is $65 (+ $3.95 ticketing fee) includes light refreshments and a sampling of Paolo's Italian Appetizers. Additionally, each attendee will receive a Nest store coupon exclusive to this event.
Materials
All materials will be provided but students are encouraged to bring in small found objects that can be pressed into the clay to create texture. All materials are washable, but students should wear clothes they don't mind getting dusty.
Kiln Firing Fee
Want to keep your piece forever? For an additional $5 per piece (cash only please!), Raffaela glaze and will fire your mug in her electric kiln, making it food safe and dishwasher safe. Firing can take up to 4 weeks, you will be notified when your pottery is ready for pickup at Nest on Main.
